Welcome to Rawk Village, We just dropped our weight requirement to 50+ lbs! Rawk Village is a community designed to help obese women come to terms with obesity, and instead of always looking for that allusive cure, to take control and reclaim their health, happiness and well-being. We use raw foods, and an unparalleled support system to change. All of our lives, skinny Aunt Theresa has told us how to be healthy - eat less, exercise more. Grandpa Ned has told us what a pretty face we have, if only we would lose weight. Mom has told us she loves us regardless, but clips every new diet she reads about and mails it to us. The media loves to plaster our over-sized behinds on the evening news. They call us an epidemic, the scourge of the earth. We up the cost of air fuel and health insurance. The thin world views us as lazy gluttons with no control. Personally, I am tired of us being villanized, and I'm tired of every moderately overweight person telling me the best ways to diet. They seem to think that their method for losing ten pounds over six months will work for us too. We know better at Rawk Village. We know the truth. No one can diet and sacrifice like an obese woman except maybe a runway model! But no one ever believes us. Few people understand the humiliation and fears we face every day as we step from our home. Weight loss surgeons and pharmaceutical companies sure do though. They count on it, and run all sorts of media ads telling us they have the cure. Face it ladies, there is no cure. It is up to us as a community of women to find our own miracles and there is only one way to do it. And unfortunately it entails diet and exercise! A raw foods diet is a powerful way to eat. Low fat, simple raw with exercise offers quick weight loss. For me it was as fast as surgery (read about my journey at I Beat Obesity). With it, I received amazing health benefits. Higher fat raw, while the weight loss isn't quite as fast, is easier to do, and offers similar health benefits. Even part-time or what is called high raw where you eat mostly raw foods with some cooked foods can change your life. It did my daughters, and now because of it, I am about to have my first grandchild after eight years of pretending it didn't matter that she couldn't have children. Raw food, just part-time allowed her body to balance out and let her conceive naturally. I am never going to tell you that giving up all your favorite junk food is going to be easy, but the women here at Rawk Village will give you the strength and the power to keep control and find a way to lose the weight and keep it off. Whether you choose to lose 130 pounds in nine months as I did, or 45 pounds in 8 months like my daughter did, we will support you. You owe it to yourself if you have ever considered weight loss surgery to give Rawk Village a try. It is a private community devoted to obese women. You must be 50 pounds or more overweight to join or have lost over fifty pounds with raw foods to be eligible. We aren't going to offer you miracles here at Rawk Village. We will however give you the tools and the support to create your own. The Diets we Support: 100% Low Fat Simple Raw < 15% Fat 100% Low Fat Raw < 25% Fat Some Recipes High Raw, Low Fat - 75% Raw < 20% fat Part Raw - You choose the level of raw foods in your diet. As Obese women we have to watch the amount of fat in our diets regardless of how raw we are. We are about change, about taking control. We have recognized some raw foods that slow down or stall our weight loss, regardless of how low our calories are, therefore everyone tries to limit their bananas to one a day and leave dates and nuts off their programs. The Exercise we Support: Walking is without a doubt the best exercise there is for obese women. We recommend walking an hour to an hour and a half every day. What we don't recommend while losing the bulk of the weight is for women to go after athletic events. For some reason once that athletic decision happens women seem to believe the athleticism is more important than losing weight, and the weight loss stalls or the women gain. So while losing, we recommend keeping the exercise to walking, hiking, ellipical machines and swimming. |
